V rámci projektu CML 2: Udržitelná městská doprava byla vypsána výzva k předkvalifikaci na rekonstrukci a modernizaci infrastruktury linky 2 metra v Káhiře. Síť káhirského metra je klíčovým prvkem egyptského systému veřejné dopravy a v současné době zahrnuje tři provozní linky. Linka káhirského metra č. 2 („CML2“) je v provozu od roku 1996 a vede ze stanice Shubra El Kheima do stanice El Mounib s celkovou délkou 21,5 km a 20 stanicemi. Trať přepraví přibližně 1,8 milionu cestujících denně a čelí rostoucím provozním výzvám v důsledku stárnoucí infrastruktury, zastaralosti systému a omezené dostupnosti náhradních dílů. Očekává se, že poptávka po cestujících v nadcházejících letech vzroste, a proto je nezbytné provést rekonstrukci a modernizaci linky CML2, aby bylo zajištěno bezpečné, efektivní a spolehlivé poskytování služeb.
